Corona del Mar, CA (May 14, 2010)— On May 13, Elizabeth Wahler, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Women of the Year nominee and founder of Kiére Media LLC, hosted “A Night of LUX: A Fashionable Fight Against Cancer”. The glam extravaganza raised funds to help advance the efforts of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission in finding a cure for blood cancers.
Held at a renowned oceanfront property in Corona del Mar, the philanthropic fête featured the charitable donors of Orange County, fashion luminaries and social media stars. While bidding on everything from pearl strands designed by Jane Basch, to a guitar signed by Mick Jagger, guests sipped on fine tequila and watched the sun set over the Pacific as they donated funds supporting a great cause.
LUXE by Lisa Vogel also had heads turning with her informal swimwear viewing. The models, donning the LUXE by Lisa Vogel 2010 collection, strutted their stuff in vibrant prints and mingled the night away with fashion fans. The red carpet was sponsored by lux retailers such as South Coast Plaza, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Dr. Domanskis, Nancy Gonzelez, LUXE by Lisa Vogel, and Black, Starr & Frost.
Elizabeth Wahler, founder of Kiére Media, pulled the event together in just 4 weeks. She said, “An event like this usually takes a year!” Shortly after her nomination by LLS, Elizabeth brought together a powerful team of seasoned women to make sure the event came together. The committee included: Donna B. Andersen, Kelly Artz, Marta Bhathal, Fran Cashen, Susan Etchandy, Kathryn Glassmyer, Michaele Hall, Bonnie Hart, Georgeana Ireland, Eve Kornyei, Jelena Kikic, Peymaneh Lund, Mona Nesseth, Gretchen Pace, Rob Poitras, Aimee Poulson, Chistine Tang, Lisa Vogel, Valaree Wahler, & Dr Tammy Wong. Elizabeth said, “I am truly grateful for my mother and my team. For it if was not for them, the event would never have happened in four short weeks! It took a village to pull this off.”
“Charity is back”, Elizabeth’s mother Valaree Wahler says of the event. The noted Orange County donor was extremely impressed by her daughter’s first charity event. She said, “It was amazing to see this turnout, short notice and on a Thursday night, all to benefit those with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”
She also noted that the event, which held 150 guests from age 25-84, was able to hit multiple generations… a difficult feat for charity events that usually garner an older audience. Valaree Wahler said, “I have never seen that diverse of an age group at a charity event before.”
With noted bloggers in attendance, it was clear Kiére Media used their social media skills to reach a wider audience. Crosby Noricks, founder of PR Couture, was excited to be at the event, “I suppose my favorite part was when everyone rushed down to complete their bids, there was laughter and gentle shoving as we all worked together to raise money, and hopefully score a bit of luxury or pampering for ourselves.” Crosby went on to say, “The oceanfront venue was absolutely spectacular and the perfect way to spend a fashionable Southern California evening. I look forward to many more events of this caliber.”
The luxury charity event was a first for the thirty-year-old media maven, but Elizabeth knows this will not be her last. “My motto is ‘Good for the Sake of Good’. This is what I love to do. There’s definitely more to come…” Elizabeth said.
Top Orange County luxury retailers came out to support Elizabeth and her fashionable fight again cancer. Not only did the retailers contribute major donations, the respective managers were in attendance, including Becca Adkinson & Christopher Vo from Nordstrom Fashion Island, Nasarin Ansari of Ansari Couture, Marta & Raj Bathal of Raj Mfg., Barbara Eidson of The Island Hotel, Jeanina Esparaza of Black, Starr & Frost, Kathryn Glassmyer & Stephanie Howard from South Coast Plaza, Marie Gray founder of St John, Michaele Hall of Neiman Marcus Fashion Island, Pamella LaBella of CAA, Jenny Leeser of Catherine Malandrino, Gretchen Pace of Saks Fifth Avenue South Coast Plaza, Jacquie Penner & Hossey Yaqubi from Nordstrom South Coast Plaza, & Lisa Vogel of LUXE by Lisa Vogel.
